Middle School Girls Win BACK to BACK State Championship!!

I'm not sure it's ever been done before BUT the Murray Middle School Lady Tigers pulled off the REPEAT on Sat May 25th at U of L capturing the State Track and Field Championship for the 2nd Consecutive Year!!

The Lady Tigers scored 83 pts while North Oldham was a distant second with 42pts

The girls were led by 8th graders Grace Campbell and Sarah McDowell who combined to score 54 of the 83pts!!

Sarah placed 1st in the discus(95-5),

2nd in the Turbo Jav(85-7) and 3rd in the Shot(33-5)

Grace won ALL three of her Individual Events - 100 hurdles(16.36), 300 hurdles(48.87) and HJ (5-4)--She BROKE the State Record of 5-2 in the HJ set by former MHS Great Catherine Claywell in 2008.

Annie Futrell - Pole Vault 6-6

Brittany Lawson - Triple Jump - 31-11

4x100 (Rachel Kindhart, Ann Taylor,Brittany Lawson,Abby Therrell)

4x200 (Annie Futrell,Kess Kelly, Abby Therrell,Ann Taylor)

4x400 (Abby Therrell,Rachel Kindhart,Maddie Waldrop,Grace Campbell)

The Boys placed 13th in the State Meet out of 60+ teams!

They were led by Tommy Speed who placed 2nd the Pole Vault w a vault of 10ft..

The Sprint Relay Teams also had very strong showings w the 4x100 and 4x200 teams both placing 3rd.

The 4x100 was comprised of Tanner Travis,Clay Ohnemus, Abongo Adongo and Danny Chavarria

The 4x200 included Tanner Travis, Matthew McCormick, Abongo Adongo an Danny Chavarria.
